This is a special sacred Buddha from my personal collection - a beautifully and intricately carved Buddha made entirely from reconstituted Turquoise...note the amazing sculptural details on this rare piece! This Mudra position with hand folded in the lap and a palm held up facing outward signifies the act of teaching or reassurance.
Reconstituted turquoise contains real turquoise, but also includes other minerals to allow for sculpture and shaping. The Ancient Egyptians made reconstituted turquoise, in slightly different form, about 4000 years ago.
