Rare Antique French Engraved Reliquary Cross with original screw pin to open the internal compartment- inside is a rolled up paper with a prayer:
"O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
The engraving is in an intricate old lettering, but what I can read looks like "O XX de Jesus XX Pitie de Nous(O XX of Jesus, XX Have Pity of Us) and on the reverse is "Jesus Marie Joseph Benissez Nous" (Jesus, Mary,Joseph Bless Us)
