Extraordinary Antique French 1914 Signed Penin Lyon Eucharist Medal- this is a rare antique medal with amazing details on both sides - close ups are provided to see the intricate imagery! Dating back to 1914, this stunning double sided medal is a souvenir of the 25th International Eucharistic Congress held at Lourdes, France. On one side is a depiction of depiction of pilgrims looking heavenward to visions of Our Lord and Our Lady. The banner at the top is inscribed with the words "Quodcumque Dixerit Vobis Facite" (Do whatever He [Jesus] tells you to do.). These words were Mary's instructions to the servants at the Wedding at Cana. (John 2:5).
The verso shows an assembly of laity and religious in adoration of the Holy Eucharist in a radiant monstrance hovering in the clouds above the Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Lourdes, France.The inscription at the top "Christum Dominantum Gentibus Adoremus" (Let us adore Christ who rules all nations.) On the exergue are the words "25 Congres Eucharistique, Lourdes, 1914"
