A note on the origin of the Paisley: Dating back to the 7th Century, there was a town in Renfrewshire. Scotland called Paisley where the first Church was built on an Abbey Site. An ancient Celtic language was spoken at this time, and the word ‘Paisley’ derives from the ancient 7th Century Celtic word 'Passeleg' which means "basilica" or "church". Paisley became famous for its paisley shawls in silk and cotton.
